There are 3 places where you can use your Range Finder in the Piper software: The Post No. 34 1/2 level of StoryMode in the StarLab mission, the Security Zone PiperCode project, and in My Projects in PiperCode to creatively prototype.
As you navigate through the frigid world of Post No. 34 ½, or are building a Security Zone for your newest hideout, you may find yourself having some issues using your Range Finder. Don’t worry! Here are some tips that may help you when using your Range Finder.
Tip 1: Clear the area.
Make sure the area around the Range Finder is clear of all objects. If anything is in the way, it can make your Range Finder think you are measuring a distance when you do not intend to.
It is easy for the wires coming from the Raspberry Pi, or the Breadboard, to sit within the range of your Range Finder. This will give false readings and can certainly be frustrating!
Tip 2: Use a flat object when measuring distance.
The easiest way to make measurements with your Range Finder is to use your hand by placing it above the sensor.
If you find your Range Finder measurements are fluctuating too much, it may be beneficial to use a nice, flat object when attempting to complete the Puzzles on Post No. 34 ½. For example, you could use a book, or a cd/dvd case. Even a stiff piece of paper would work well!
We hope these tips have helped you. If you find yourself still stuck or needing additional help, please contact us at hi@playpiper.com and we will get it sorted out for you.
